Jan 21, 2020 (newstodate): Already before the end of this year, Uzbekistan will see the launch of a new airline as requested by the country's omnipotent president.
Tentatively named Humo Air, the planned airline is set up to compete with the country's other state-owned carrier Uzbekistan Airlines, that currently hold 75 percent of Uzbekistan's air travel market and has come under heavy criticism for exploiting its near-monopoly to raise, and keep, air fares at high levels.
The coming new airline will thus be serving the market with low fares, starting out with domestic services.
No further details on fleet plans, route network or frequencies are yet available.
