Jan 10, 2020 (newstodate): The Icelandic ACMI carrier Air Atlanta Icelandic is seen taking the first steps towards introducing a new aircraft type to its fleet: the Boeing 777.
The company has entrusted the Dutch recruitment agency Confair with the task of sourcing a batch of Boeing 777 first officers to be based in Saudi Arabia.
Saudia is a steady costumer at Air Atlanta Icelandic that currently operates seven Boeing 747-400 aircraft for Saudia.
Boeing 777 has long been in the focus of Air Atlanta Icelandic as the future replacement of the Boeing 747-400 aircraft now in the fleet.
-The Boeing 747 will remain our work-horse for many years to come, but we are of course evaluating a potential successor, first as a complement and eventually as a replacement, Baldvin Mar Hermannsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic CEO, told newstodate early in 2019.
-At this stage we are not precluding any alternatives, but my personal choice is a Boeing aircraft like the Boeing 777, not least the ER-version that is, however, years away from first conversions.
