Jan 21, 2020 (newstodate): With the first flight from Budapest on August 27, 2017, Wizz Air became the first Western LCC to operate into Russia's St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport.
Since then, the carrier has expanded its services at St Petersburg, and starting from this summer Wizz Air is adding flights to new destinations Vilnius, Bucharest, Sofia, and Bratislava, in addition to the currently served routes to London and Budapest.
Wizz Air is also operating flights on routes from Moscow and Kazan, and in total the LCC will be serving 10 routes between Russia and six European countries.
The opening of new routes at St Petersburg served by foreign carriers benefits from the recent implementation of 7th Freedom Rights as well as the visa-free access to the region, enforced from the start of this year.
