Jan 20, 2020 (newstodate): There seems to be no end to Helsinki Airport's attraction to Chinese traffic.
A recent route application notice released by CAAC exposes that Juneyao Airlines expects to launch flights to another new route to Helsinki Airport from Shenzhen Airport, serving China's leading hi-tech and IT communities.
If plans materialize, the carrier will operate three weekly rotations on the route starting from November 2020.
Juneyao Airlines started daily flights from Shanghai to Helsinki from June 28, 2019, seasonally reducing frequency to three weekly rotations from October 14, 2019, but returning daily flights again from the start of the coming summer schedule.
Benefiting from 5th Freedom Rights, Juneyao Airlines will extend the Shanghai-Helsinki route to Manchester, in the UK, starting from March 30, 2020, on three weekly flights, and to Dublin on two weekly flights also from March 30, as well as to Keflavik on the remaining two days from March 29, 2020.
With the planned new flights from Shenzhen, Juneyao Airlines will thus be operating 10 weekly flights with Boeing 787-9 aircraft at Helsinki Airport, turning the airport into a European mini-hub.
Juneyao Air has contracted Aviator Finland as its handling partner at Helsinki Airport.
Already on the schedule in summer 2020 are 53 weekly flights to destinations in Greater China, with Finnair performing 42 weekly flights to seven destinations - Beijing Airport, Beijing Daxing Airport, Shanghai, Xian, Nanjing and Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong.
The Chinese carrier Sichuan Airlines will add two weekly flights to Chengdu, Juneyao Airlines will offer daily flights to Shanghai, and Tibet Airlines will be offering two weekly flights to Jinan.
