Jan 13, 2020 (newstodate): Starting from June 28, 2019, the Chinese carrier Juneyao Airlines commenced daily flights on the route between Shanghai and Helsinki - its first European destination.
The carrier is now preparing for a major expansion drive in Europe and Southeast Asia.
Juneyao Airlines thus plans to set up branches in the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Greece and Malaysia, according to a stock market filing last week.
The model is to team up with local partners in each market to pave the road for new routes into Europe and Southeast Asia.
The carrier will launch flights between Helsinki and Keflavik from March 29, 2020, exploiting the remaining two of seven weekly rotations into Helsinki on Tuesdays and Saturdays after flights between Helsinki and Manchester on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and flights between Helsinki and Dublin to be performed on Sundays and Thursdays.
In all three cases, Juneyao Airlines will be exercising 5th Freedom Rights allowing for bookings between Helsinki and the new European destinations.
