Sep 03, 2019 (newstodate): Traffic is increasing at Lithuania's Vilnius Airport that saw passenger volumes up by 9.6 percent and aircraft movements up by 5.2 percent, y-o-y, during H1, 2019.
To facilitate smoother aircraft operations on the ground at Vilnius Airport, the decision has been made to invest in the elongation and widening of one taxiway in 2020-2022, as well as constructing a new taxiway to be commissioned in 2021.
Today, the airport has one runway and five taxiways, which generates prolonged taxiing for take-off and after landing, translating into congestion and prolonged ground manoeuvring.
The airport will also renovate its northern aircraft platform, with construction works to be completed by the end of 2021.
