Sep 09, 2019 (newstodate): At a press conference in Reykjavik on September 6, 2019, news broke of the resurrection of the Icelandic carrier WOW Air.
The US company USAerospace Associates LLC announced that a purchase agreement has been signed for the acquisition of the WOW Air brand, which will bring back WOW Air in the air.
Initially based on a US AOC, later to be supplemented by an Icelandic AOC, ambitions are to start low-cost flights between Keflavik and Washington already in October 2019, initially with a fleet of two aircraft and planning to grow to six aircraft by summer 2020 - finally landing at some 10-12 aircraft.
Air cargo will be part of the coming "new" carrier's business plan from the outset, targeting Iceland's exports to seafood to the American market.
The airline will have its HQs at Washington Dulles Airport in Washington, with facilities at Keflavik Airport and offices in Reykjavik.
A US holding company specializing via diversified aerospace companies in the aviation sector, USAerospace Associates LLC is headed and majority-owned by Michele Ballarin as the Chairman of the Board of Directors that also counts Charles Celli, USAerospace COO among its members.
