Sep 24, 2019 (newstodate): One airline seeing unprecedented growth in days of plight for the bankrupt Thomas Cook Group is Titan Airways.
Set up in 1988, the UK carrier Titan Airways is a niche player in the ACMI market but has abruptly boosted its fleet through wet-lease of a large number of aircraft from airlines including DAT, Sundair, Maleth-Aero, AtlasGlobal, SmartLynx, Avion Express, flyEgypt, Tunisair, Privilege Style, White Airways, Olympus Airways, GetJet Airlines, Plus Ultra, Onur Air and others.
The arrangement, made possible by ATOL, the UK financial protection scheme applying to air package holidays sold by UK travel businesses, secures the home bound flights for British charter tourists stranded after the bankruptcy of Thomas Cook.
