Sep 17, 2019 (newstodate): With the first flight on September 16, 2019, the Chinese carrier Sichuan airlines has now added Helsinki Airport to the route between Chengdu and Copenhagen.
Sichuan Airlines launched flights on the route to Copenhagen on December 10, 2019, with two weekly rotations using Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Adding Helsinki to the route in both directions has been taken as evidence of poor load factors on the direct Chengdu-Copenhagen flights.
However, on the opening flight on the now triangular route the carrier lifted off with 280 out of 190 seats taken by passengers.
Furthermore, sources say that out of the 280 passengers only 50 disembarked at Helsinki, with the remaining 230 passengers continuing to Copenhagen.
Hardly a proof of poor performance of the Copenhagen route..
