Sep 26, 2019 (newstodate): Russia's S7 Airlines has started the process of retiring its fleet of Airbus A319 aircraft from commercial service.
The first of the type has already left the carrier, and plans are that one-third of the fleet now comprising 17 Airbus A219 aircraft will be out of service before the end of this year.
S7 was Russia's second airline to receive the A319 after Aeroflot that phased out is last remaining aircraft already in 2016.
S7 Airlines took delivery of its first A319 in 2006 and has been operating up to 20 units of the type.
The airline is instead expanding its fleet of larger Airbus A320 Family aircraft and is currently operating 12 A320neo and four A321neo the end of this year S7 Airlines expects to receive nine more of the A320neo family of aircraft.
Before the end of this year, nine more Airbus A320neo aircraft will be delivered to S7 Airlines.
