Sep 19, 2019 (newstodate): Georgia now has direct air connectivity with 39 countries - and the number is ever-growing.
In 2019, regular scheduled flights to Georgia from Switzerland, Uzbekistan and Malta were added to the list, with flights from Denmark starting only on September 13, 2019, as Wizz Air is now offering direct non-stop flights between Copenhagen and Kutaisi, with two weekly rotations on the route.
But new countries will be added also in 2020, as Wizz Air has so far announced the launch of flights to Kutaisi from Stockholm and Helsinki.
Wizz Air was the first European LCC to enter the Georgian market on October 29, 2012, and opened its base at Kutaisi Airport on September 23, 2016, with one aircraft, adding a second aircraft at the airport on May 17, 2018, and a third from May 2019, now operating flights between 27 European destinations and Kutaisi Airport.
Latest news in the Georgian market are the plans of the Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo to start flights to Tbilisi by 2020.
