Sep 02, 2019 (newstodate): The volumes of Norwegian salmon exports to China have almost doubled so far into 2019, compared to last year.
A total of 16,030 tonnes of salmon reached the Chinese market during weeks 1-34, ending August 25, which is an increase by 83 percent, y-o-y.
Volumes exported to Hong Kong during the period were 8,584 tonnes, which was down 16 percent, y-o-y, with the current logistics problems due to the political situation among other factors.
Among other Chinese-speaking markets, Taiwan saw volumes up by 23 percent to 7,071 tonnes, and volumes of Norwegian salmon to Singapore also increased by 25 percent to 4,409 tonnes.
