Sep 25, 2019 (newstodate): The Lithuanian IOSA-registered ACMI and charter carrier GetJet Airlines is now active in the Canadian aviation market.
This marks the first step in fulfilling the carrier's ambitions for expanding into the North American market after applying with Transport Canada for a Foreign AOC in November 2017, and obtaining in May 2018 the coveted certificate allowing it to launch air transport services to, from and within Canada.
As its first business in the Canadian market, GetJet Airlines has signed a short-term contract with Sunwing Airlines for one Airbus A319 aircraft, with the first flight operation performed on September 22, 2019.
In the fleet of GetJet Airlines, managed by Darius Viltrakis as CEO, are 17 aircraft including seven Boeing 737, six A320s, one Airbus A330, and three Airbus A319.
Set up in 2011 and based at Vilnius Airport, GetJet Airlines received its own AOC in 2016, starting business as an aircraft brokering company but now focusing on charter and ACMI contracts for its aircraft fleet.
