Sep 12, 2019 (newstodate): As of September 10, 2019, Latvia's airBaltic has become the world's first airline certified to provide a full scope of Airbus A220-300 maintenance capabilities.
airBaltic has successfully passed the audit for Base Maintenance Capability for Airbus A220-300 carried out by Latvia's CAA, proving the ability to provide a full-scale EASA Part-145 Line Maintenance and Base Maintenance for this aircraft type.
The carrier expects to save on time and expenditures on its future own Airbus A220-300 maintenance, and will also be in a favourable position to offer maintenance services to external customers in the region.
airBaltic now operates 19 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, growing to 22 before the end of this year and eventually planning for a fleet comprising up to 80 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, provided a strategic investor is found to bolster the financial stability in future economic contractions.
