Sep 17, 2019 (newstodate): After 12 years at Moscow Domodedovo Airport, Japan Air Lines is considering a return to Sheremetyevo as its Russian hub.
Plans are to relocate the airline to Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport as a result from a new business partnership agreement announced in 2017 by JAL and Aeroflot.
Once the relocation is completed in 2020, the Japanese carrier will implement a code-share agreement with Aeroflot, allowing its customers to travel from Sheremetyevo on Aeroflot flights to domestic destinations.
JAL operates daily flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport from Tokyo Narita airport using Boeing 787-8 aircraft, while Aeroflot operates daily flights from Sheremetyevo to Narita using Airbus 330-300 aircraft.
JAL moved away from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Moscow Domodedovo Airport from December 14, 2007, following a number of other international airlines.
