Sep 05, 2019 (newstodate) Once considering Russia a key growth market, Finnair is soon down to serving only two destinations in Russia in the coming winter schedule.
To be axed are flights on routes from Helsinki to Yekaterinburg with last service on October 10, 2019, to Samara ending September 23, and to Kazan with the last flight on September 15, 2019.
Finnair launched flights from Helsinki to Samara on August 7, 2014, and to Kazan on August 14, 2014, while flights to Yekaterinburg were launched already on September 2, 2008.
During the winter 2019/20 schedule, Finnair will thus only be serving flights from Helsinki to Moscow, served since 1956, and to St Petersburg that was launched on June 2, 2008.
Until 2014, Finnair was offering flights to up to six Russian destinations including Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Kazan - with ambitions for even more points to be added to the route map.
