Aug 21, 2019 (newstodate): With ambitions to increase the number of visitors to Uzbekistan to 10 million visitors a year, the country is now opening up for charter and low-cost flights.
The new policy will be implemented from October 1, 2019, building on the country's previously announced Open Skies from October 1, 2019, comprising a number of international airports in the country.
Bukhara Airport will thus allow full 5th Freedom to charter operators carrying foreign tourists, while other airports will be fully opened.
The new policy is to be supported by a comprehensive incentives scheme for airlines and tour operators bringing in tourists from market in Russia, Southeast Asia, China, and the European countries.
Uzbekistan is also to add another 20 countries to its visa-free regime from January 2020, bringing the total number of countries with a visa-free regime to a total of 85.
