Aug 13, 2019 (newstodate): Iceland's Akureyri Airport is fearing the loss of significant leisure traffic after a leading UK tour operator went bankrupt on August 1, 2019.
In business since 1983, the British travel service SuperBreak has been organizing direct flights between the UK and Akureyri since 2017, providing a major boost to the Icelandic arctic region's tourism and travel industry.
During the winter 2018/19 program, the travel company operated twice-weekly flights into Akureyri, and plans were to perform at least 14 rotations during the coming winter season.
