Aug 06, 2019 (newstodate): To prepare for a sustained increase in operations, Georgia's Tbilisi Airport is upgrading its airfield lighting infrastructure.
As a first step, the Italian provider of airfield lighting systems OCEM Airfield Technology is implementing new lighting signals for a runway refurbishment and extension, upgrading Tbilisi Airport's instrument landing system from CAT I to CAT II to allow landings in conditions of reduced visibility.
The latest round of installations will allow the airport to increase air traffic.
OCEM is supplying, delivering and installing runway guard lights, LED stop bar signals and guidance signs at holding positions, and is upgrading the Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System.
The Italian company has also installed new lighting signals on all four taxiways and will finish installing new lights for the runway extension and upgrade later this summer.
