Aug 27, 2019 (newstodate): Sweden's Jonkoping Airport is amid a major process for expanding and upgrading its infrastructure to allow for more traffic with larger aircraft.
Among the major projects is a new JET A1 fuelling facility to become operative this autumn, construction from spring 2020 of a new airport vehicles garage to relieve surface traffic on the platform, and, not least, developing the airport's runway and taxiway system to Code 4E standard, allowing for operating larger freighter and passenger aircraft types including Boeing 787.
Several elements of this project are in the final stage of construction, and hopes are to achieve Code 4E certification already later in Autumn 2019.
Next in the pipeline are new aircraft parking stands to be completed by Spring 2020, including two dedicated freighter parking stands in front the air cargo terminal to ease handling of cargo shipments between aircraft and terminal.
