Aug 05, 2019 (newstodate): Aeroflot seems to be the only major life line for survival of Russia's first post-Soviet commercial aircraft, the Superjet 100.
Sukhoi has seen a number of airline customers pulling out from orders or deferring deliveries, and so far into 2019 the aircraft manufacturer has delivered only three aircraft.
Among the aborted orders are the Mexican airline Interjet that has frozen further deliveries after accepting an initial 22 of 30 aircraft on order.
CityJet ordered a total of 15 Superjet 100, with options on 16 more, but only seven have been delivered.
Earlier this year, Slovenia's Adria Airways pulled out from agreements over 15 aircraft, and the Russian carrier Yamal Airlines also decided not to go through with acquisition of 10 aircraft.
Thus only Aeroflot with now 59 Superjet 100 aircraft keeps the aircraft production alive, but has yet to sign a preliminary agreement on a further batch of 100 aircraft.
