Aug 27, 2019 (newstodate): Plans for a new freighter service to lift Norwegian seafood out of Bodo Airport, in Northern Norway, have entered a new stage.
-So far, the single overriding challenge for the project has been the lack of pertinent GSE at the airport. But with this issue solved, we are now entering a new phase of planning for the operational aspects at the airport, says Espen Westermann, Flybyen at Bodo Airport driving the project.
-We are in dialogue with a major international airline for establishing a freighter service from Bodo Airport to cover the needs for uplift capacity to the Asian and North American markets.
-We are working closely with stakeholders in the seafood exporting industry, the local business community and airlines to optimize the operation to provide local seafood exporters with a competitive edge by lifting the shipments directly from Northern Norway.
-The response in the market has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are convinced of seeing the launch of a freighter service within the near future, says Mr Westermann.
