Aug 22, 2019 (newstodate): Thriving on seafood, Norway's Oslo Airport saw its total cargo volumes rising in Jan-June 2019, but only thanks to an increase in exports.
Counting flown cargo alone, the airport handled 88,642 tonnes of cargo during H1/2019, an increase by 3.7 percent, y-o-y.
Exports continued to soar with a growth by 8.5 percent to 64,258 tones, while imports were down as in most other international airports - dropping 7.1 percent to 24,384 tonnes.
Avinor does not provide more detailed cargo statistics, leaving further analysis on thin ice.
But in 2018, flown cargo out of Oslo Airport accounted for 40 percent of the total air cargo volume handled which would indicate that another about 133,000 tonnes were still transported on rubber wheels.
