Aug 20, 2019 (newstodate): Avinor has announced the opening of a new Chinese freighter operation from September 2019
Suparna Airlines, in China named Jinpeng, will provide two weekly flights with a Boeing 747-400F freighter starting from September 2019.
The new freighter service brings capacity for Norwegian seafood exporters to reach into the greater Shanghai area, adding a welcome addition in seafood logistics to the Chinese market.
Norway's first direct freighter service to China lifted off on September 8, 2017, as DHL Freight Forwarding introduced a twice-weekly freighter service from Oslo Airport to Seoul, continuing to Shanghai using an Atlas Air Boeing 747-400F aircraft, but the service was later suspended.
Next, on January 17, 2019, the Slovak carrier Air Cargo Global introduced two weekly Boeing 747-400F flights on the route from Oslo to Tianjin Binhai International Airport, and starting from May 10, 2019, the Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines now offers three weekly rotations between Oslo and Beijing with a mix of Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-200 aircraft lifting some 16 tonnes of seafood in the belly.
With the latest addition of Suparna Airlines, Oslo Airport will be served by some 20 weekly freighter operations per week.
