Aug 23, 2019 (newstodate): Russia's Superjet 100 seems close to losing its last customer in the western hemisphere - the Mexican airline Interjet.
Russian media are reporting the Interjet, the second-largest operator of the aircraft type after Aeroflot, wants to divest of its fleet of 22 Superjet 100 aircraft.
Already now, most of the carrier's Superjet 100 aircraft fleet seems to be stuck on the ground - according to flightradar24, only six Superjet 100 are currently in service, another seven have been out of service for more than a year, five have been on the ground since the fall of 2018, three since last winter, and one more grounded since March 2019.
The Superjet 100 entered service with Interjet in 2013, performing their first revenue flights on September 18, 2013.
