Aug 07, 2019 (newstodate): LATAM Cargo, offering a weekly flight with a Boeing 767-300 freighter since June 20, 2019, has brought wide-body freighter operations back to Copenhagen Airport.
And according to the airline, the reception by shippers in the Nordic markets has been very promising.
-So far, the performance has indeed been very satisfactory, with some 20-25 tonnes of export shipments out of Copenhagen on each flight, says Raul Peralta, LATAM Cargo Inside sales GSA Europe, Middle East and Africa.
-The launch of the service took place in the off-peak summer season, and with a positive start under these conditions we are looking forward to a sustained increase in volumes during the coming autumn and winter traffic.
-There are currently no concrete plans on the table for increasing the frequency of this service, but we would of course be only happy to offer more flights as market demands grow.
-LATAM Cargo is generating bookings not only in the Danish market, but from all four Nordic markets. A speciality in the Danish market is the pharmaceutical industry, but we are seeing much general cargo from all Nordic markets as well.
-The operation is thus doing well, and we are very satisfied also with the handling quality at Copenhagen Airport, says Mr Peralta, based in Madrid.
Flying in from Brussels, the freighter operates on Thursdays from Copenhagen Airport via a technical refuelling stop at Capo Verde to Viracopos in Brazil, Montevideo in Uruguay, Santiago in Chile, and Quito in Peru.
Before introducing on-line services at Copenhagen Airport, LATAM Cargo opened its 10th global hub, and second offline station, at Copenhagen Airport from September 1, 2018, to meet a strong demand for transporting pharmaceuticals to the South American markets by trucking shipments from Copenhagen Airport to its European hubs at Amsterdam, Brussels, and Frankfurt.
Serving LATAM Cargo with cargo terminal services at Copenhagen Airport is WFS, ramp handling is provided by DHL Aviation, while Kales Airline Services provides the carrier with cargo sales and marketing in all four Nordic markets.
