Aug 07, 2019 (newstodate): After Kyrgyzstan's national carrier Air Kyrgyzstan finally folded its wings after losing its AOC in 2018, only four Kyrgyz airlines are licensed to perform passenger flights.
Of the four airlines Avia Traffic, Tez Jet, Air Manas and Air KG, only one is on a growth curve: Avia Traffic that is capable of providing international traffic and with hopes to complete IOSA certification before the end of 2019.
In the fleet of Avia Traffic are now six aircraft including two Airbus S320 and four Boeing 737-300 aircraft, and the carrier plans to add its first Boeing 737-400, and will even introduce its first Boeing 737NG aircraft in 2020.
The carrier has however a hard time in competing with foreign carriers, notably Russian airlines, after Kyrgyzstan implemented a new policy of 5th Freedom rights and open skies from January 2019 allowing foreign carriers to operate freely into Kyrgyzstan and between Kyrgyzstan and 3rd countries.
