Aug 01, 2019 (newstodate): After five years of service, Azerbaijan Airlines is giving up on its flights to the USA.
The carrier has announced that the last flight between Baku and New York JFK will be performed on September 30, 2019, ending the twice-weekly flights program.
Starting from September 23, 2014, Azerbaijan Airlines has been operating direct flight between Baku and New York with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, since 2015 replaced by Boeing 787 aircraft, and aiming at adding a third rotation already shortly after the launch and even mulling plans for more North American destinations.
However, with only two weekly rotations and facing increasing competition on rates, Azerbaijan Airlines has decided to pull out.
