Aug 15, 2019 (newstodate): Aeroflot is seeing market trends in the Nordic and Baltic markets similar to world averages - but on a more limited scale.
-Generally speaking, we are seeing a slow-down in import volumes into the Nordics and Baltics, while export volumes are less impacted but still below last year's performance, says Denis Khmelevskiy, Aeroflot Cargo Regional Sales Manager.
-The decline in volumes is primarily reflecting the general effect from the slack summer and holiday season, so I expect growth to return again as the industry returns to normal.
-Like other airlines, we are hit by the embargo on transiting of perishables, including seafood, at Russia's airports due to the implementation of a regulation actually stemming from 2014 but so far not enforced.
-We sincerely hope the problems will soon be solved as Norwegian seafood exports are also important to us, says Mr Khmelevskiy.
Aeroflot operates two daily flights from Moscow to Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.
The daily flight to Gothenburg, currently cancelled due to operational reasons, will be resumed in September, and Aeroflot also operates three daily flights to Helsinki.
In the Baltic markets, Aeroflot operates 4-5 daily flights to Riga, two flights to Vilnius and two daily flights to Tallinn.
Until 2012, Aeroflot also performed three weekly MD-11F rotations between Moscow and Helsinki driven by Chinese exports to Russia.
