Jul 01, 2019 (newstodate): Handling of pharma shipments is the focus of one of six working groups set up by Air Cargo Sweden - and work is progressing..
-The Working Group Pharma is looking at ways to improve the quality of pharma flows transported via Swedish Airports. This group represents a broad range of industry-partners, such as Airlines and/or their GSAs, freight forwarders and freight/ground handlers, says Bas van Goch, Swedavia Cargo Development Manager.
-The first goal is to increase the temperature reliability of the tarmac transport at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Several options are currently looked at, ranging from short-term solutions like storage in shade-areas, to long term solutions with thermal blankets and temperature controlled tarmac transporters.
-These transporters should keep sensitive shipments within agreed temperature ranges, in summer heat as well as in winter cold.
-The short term solutions will be tested this summer already, says Mr van Goch.
And solutions to serve the Swedish pharma industry is indeed a hot topic.
According to Pharma Boardroom, pharmaceuticals are Sweden’s fourth largest export, following road vehicles, machinery and electronics.
The value of Swedish pharmaceutical exports in 2018 was nearly twice as large as the value of pharmaceutical imports.
Swedish pharma's principal export markets are Germany, China and the USA, and its pharma market is reportedly the largest in the Nordics region.
