Jul 04, 2019 (newstodate): Air Iceland Connect has put one Bombardier Q400 aircraft up for sale.
The aircraft is currently operating for Icelandair on routes from Keflavik to Dublin from July 18 till September 14, 2019, and to Manchester during the period July 15-September 11, 2019, both routes served twice-weekly, and will leave the fleet as the contract expires.
Air Iceland Connect took in the first of three Q400 aircraft on January 24, 2016, as a replacement of the five Fokker 50 aircraft due for retirement after serving as the carrier's backbone since May 1965.
Air Iceland Connect has however not been able to identify new projects for the excess capacity, and plans to divest of the excess aircraft capacity were already aired in 2018 in the wake of poor results in 2017.
