Jul 31, 2019 (newstodate): Finnair is to pull out from three Russian destinations by the coming winter schedule.
To be axed are flights on routes from Helsinki to Yekaterinburg with last service on October 10, 2019, to Samara ending September 23, and to Kazan with the last flight on September 15, 2019.
The routes have not performed satisfactorily, and cutting 10 weekly rotations will allow the carrier to allocate capacity to more profitable European routes.
This leaves only two Russian destinations on Finnair's coming winter schedule, Moscow and St Petersburg.
Finnair launched flights from Helsinki to Samara on August 7, 2014, and to Kazan on August 14, 2014, while flights to Yekaterinburg were launched already on September 2, 2008.
Russia was earlier a key market for Finnair that has been operating flights from Helsinki until 2014 to up to six Russian destinations including Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Kazan.
