Jun 07, 2019 (newstodate): The Ukrainian carrier Yanair has again run into strong turbulence.
Ukraine's State Aviation Administration has revoked the carrier's AOC after an audit exposing severe air safety issues, and the carrier's future now depends on its ability to present convincing documentation of revised procedures and updated maintenance procedures.
Yanair was established in 2012 and received its AOC and commercial licence with a fleet of two SAAB 340A aircraft allowing it to operate domestic flights in Ukraine.
The airline however suspended its operations in 2014, citing inadequate demand and lack of profitability on its route network served with a fleet then comprising two SAAB 340 aircraft, three Airbus A320 and two Boeing 737 aircraft.
Yanair next returned to the skies again from June 6, 2015, operating flights on the route from Kiev and Odessa to Batumi, in Georgia, also opening flights from May 20, 2016 between Kiev Zhuliany Airport and Riga Airport.
In the fleet of Yanair are now nine aircraft including four Airbus A320 Family aircraft and five Boeing 737 Classic aircraft.
