Jun 21, 2019 (newstodate): While still waiting for EASA to lift the ban on EU operations, Turkmenistan Airlines is building up its long-haul capacity.
The carrier has thus signed up for purchase of one Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, growing the fleet to four wide-body aircraft of this type.
Based at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan Airlines is thus to acquire its 32nd Boeing aircraft, currently operating a fleet comprising 12 Boeing 737NG, three Boeing 757-200,three Boeing 777 aircraft, in addition to VIP aircraft and eight IL-76TD freighters.
Turkmenistan was also the first post-Soviet state to purchase Boeing aircraft.
EASA revoked the carrier's TCO licence on February 4, 2019, causing Turkmenistan Airlines to suspend flights on important routes into the EU.
