Jun 18, 2019 (newstodate): When envelopes with final bids for construction of Greenland's new airports were opened on June 14, 2019, bids were delivered by three of the five remaining participants.
Bids for runway construction at the coming two new airports at Nuuk and Ilulissat were received from the Dutch firm BAM International, Canada's Pennecon Dexter Joint Venture and from the Danish company Munck Gruppen.
Refraining from taking part in the tender were thus the Chinese company China Communications Construction Company, as well as the Danish Aarsleff-Istak and MT Hojgaard.
The projects comprise the extension of the runway at the capital airport at Nuuk to 1,800m from today's 950m, and the extension of the runway at Ilulissat Airport to 1,800m from today's 845m.
Kalaallit Airports will now scrutinize the three bids, and a winner of the tender will be announced already before the end of this month, with construction works to start before Greenland's winter sets.
