Jun 24, 2019 (newstodate): The authorities of Finland and Nepal are now taking the first steps towards an air services agreement, paving the way for future flights between Helsinki and Nepal.
Already earlier this month, Kathmandu Post broke the news of talks between the Nepalese and Finnish governments in preparation for a bilateral air services agreement opening up for Finnair to launch direct non-stop flights between Helsinki and Nepal's Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport.
The formal invitation to negotiate and draft an agreement was sent to Nepal in May 2019, and according to Nepalese media Nepal hopes that its own airline, Nepal Airlines, will get off the EU Black list during the Finnish EU Presidency starting July 1, 2019.
All Nepalese airlines have been blacklisted for continued failure to address air safety shortcomings by EU since 2013, barring them from flights into EU markets.
