Jun 20, 2019 (newstodate): In 2018, Latvia's Riga Airport saw the German market taking the lead in passenger volumes, while Russia was the leading market in cargo.
The German market thus grew its passenger volumes at Riga Airport by four percent, y-o-y, to 912,117 passengers, while the volume of UK passengers dropped two percent to 830,607 passengers, still securing the #2 position.
Ranking 3rd in 2018 was the Russian market with a strong growth by 17 percent to 747,565 passengers.
All together, Riga Airport handled a total of 7,056,099 passengers in 2018, an increase by 15.7 percent, y-o-y.
On the cargo side, the situation is different, with growth figures in all three top-ranking markets.
The Russian market was by far the largest at Riga Airport in 2018, with a growth by 28 percent, y-o-y, to 3,087 tonnes, followed by the German market, up 26 percent to 2,236 tonnes, and the UK market with 943 tonnes, also increasing five percent in 2018.
A total of 28,170 tonnes of cargo was handled at Riga Airport in 2018, an increase by 10.7 percent, y-o-y.
