Jun 27, 2019 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica's full focus on serving as a capacity provider to other airlines leaves only three routes on the carrier's network of scheduled services.
The carrier is keeping only flights to Stockholm, Warsaw and Brussels - and even these are to be served by Nordica's partner, the Polish carrier LOT from July 1, 2019.
Starting from January 14, 2019, Nordica’s winter schedule included eight direct routes from Tallinn to Stockholm, Vilnius, Copenhagen, Brussels, Kiev, Warsaw, Vienna and Munich, while flights to Oslo, Amsterdam and St Petersburg were axed.
Now another five unprofitable Nordica routes from Tallinn to Kiev, Copenhagen, Trondheim, Vienna, and Vilnius will be suspended from the end of this summer schedule by October.
Instead, Nordic will direct all capacity to serving customers including LOT, Nordica, SAS, Air Serbia, Flyby and various contract partners in Europe.
Still, Nordica does not consider the retreat from the scheduled market a defeat due to steep competition.
Rather the opposite:
-According to the current flight plan, Tallinn Airport has direct connections to 37 destinations. Being a local airline, Nordica has most certainly contributed to expanding the market, having offered strong competition to foreign companies, says a confident Kristi Ojakaar, member of Nordica's Management Board, in a release.
