Jun 26, 2019 (newstodate): According to the latest report by the Airport Council International on air traffic in Europe, Latvia was ranked third among European countries with the fastest growing number of air passengers in April 2019.
   Riga Airport thus handled at total of 646,073 passengers in April - an increase by 13.4 percent, y-o-y, outranked only by Croatia's 25.6 and Austria's 22.8 percentages, but leading over Estonia that saw passenger volumes up by 11.5 percent in April.
   During January-May 2019, Riga Airport has seen its total volume of passengers up by 9.2 percent, y-o-y, to over 2.7 mio passengers, almost one-third of which are transfer and transit passengers.
   Leading the market in Latvia is the country's airBaltic that grew its market share to 59 percent in May 2019, and to 24 percent in Estonia where the airline is now also the leading carrier, measured in passenger volume.
