Jun 07, 2019 (newstodate): Flying in challenging times, Icelandair reports an increase in passenger and cargo volumes in May 2019.
The carrier transported 419,000 passengers in May, an increase by 14 percent, y-o-y.
At the same time, capacity was down due to the sustained grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and thus declined by seven percent in May while causing the load factor to grow to 82.5 percent, compared to 77.7 percent in May 2018.
While actual tonnage figures are not released, Icelandair says cargo volumes carried increased by 19 percent in May, compared to last year.
