Jun 14, 2019 (newstodate): Today marks the launch of the new Danish carrier Great Dane Airlines.
Lifting off on its inaugural flight today, the carrier received its AOC in the last minute and is thus capable of operating on its own licence from the start, rather than relying on another carrier's AOC.
The first flight is a charter operation for the Danish tour operator Apollo, while the first scheduled flights will be performed on June 21, 2019, on the route between Aalborg and Dublin.
Great Dane Airlines will start out with a flight programme comprising two weekly rotations between Aalborg Airport and Dublin from June 21, 2019, adding flights to Edinburgh from June 24 with two rotations, and two weekly flights to Nice from June 26.
In the fleet are two ex-Stobart Air Embraer 195LR aircraft osned by the airline's new investor Eigil B. Christensen, who transfers the aircraft to Great Dane Airlines on a leasing contract.
