Jun 21, 2019 (newstodate): Finnair has developed a taste for flights to Kazakhstan and is returning in 2019 with a new series of seasonal flights.
During the period August 2-September 23, 2019, the carrier will be offering two weekly rotations between Helsinki and Astana Airport, now named Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport.
Flights will be operated with Airbus A319 aircraft.
After sniffing at the Kazakh market in connection to the World Expo 2017 in Kazakhstan, Finnair operated two weekly rotations on the first-ever route between Helsinki and Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport from July 3 till end of September 2018.
Finnair is actually allowed to operate up to seven weekly rotations on the route between Helsinki and Astana/Almaty as a result of negotiations during the Kazakh president's visit to Finland in October 2018, building on a new Air Services Agreement between Finland and Kazakhstan, signed in May 2018.
