Jun 04, 2019 (newstodate): The Estonian capacity provider Regional Jet is poised for fleet expansion after landing an expanded contract with SAS.
Starting from August 2017, Regional Jet has been operating four ATR 72-600 aircraft for SAS on regional routes, primarily out of Copenhagen Airport after SAS' contract with its former provider Jet Time expired with the last flight on September 2, 2017.
Regional Jet's subsidiary Nordica is now to take replace SAS' contract with the UK carrier FlyBe from later this year, and will therefore need to add four more ATR 72-600 aircraft to the fleet.
When these new aircraft have been acquired, Regional Jet will be operating a fleet of 23 aircraft including 11 ATR 72-600, eight of which will be operating for SAS, 10 CRJ900, five of which are operated for LOT, and two CRJ700.
Regional Jet was founded in 2015 as an independent company, supplying wet lease services to other companies.
Since November 2016, the company is owned 49 percent by Nordic Aviation Group - Nordica - and 51 percent by LOT Polish Airlines.
