Jun 14, 2019 (newstodate): The HNA Group subsidiary, Lucky Air has launched flights on a new route between St Petersburg and Kunming, the capital of Yuannan province in China.
The low-cost carrier is now offering three weekly rotations with Airbus A330 aircraft during the summer 2019, with the last flight on October 25, 2019.
Another European destination on the radar of Lucky Air is Helsinki, where the carrier has long been expected to start operations.
Already in 2017, Lucky Air applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China for a licence to open a route from Kunming via Chengdu to Helsinki.
The application was approved for flights to commence with two weekly rotations from January 17, 2018, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft - but the airline did not exert the rights.
However, Lucky Air has later confirmed that Helsinki will indeed appear on its network in 2019 - which has still to be seen..
Lucky Air, set up in 2004, now operates a fleet comprising 55 aircraft including four Airbus A330-300.
