May 27, 2019 (newstodate): Sweden's Amapola 'Flyg operates about one-fourth of the world current fleet of Fokker 50 aircraft.
And the carrier is still adding more aircraft to the fleet, after taking in three F50 in 2018 from the stock of the now-defunct VLM and now operating 20 F50.
Amapola is still strong in the converted F50 market and plans to add five more converted aircraft already this year, targeting the African market where demand for small freighters is booming.
On the passenger side, Amapola is now operating two domestic routes in Sweden as well as providing capacity for airline customers including BRA and Wideroe on wet-lease contracts, but Amapola has no intentions of adding more F50 passenger aircraft to its fleet.
Amapola is now deep into the process of obtaining IOSA certification, which will further boost its potentials as capacity provider to other airlines on ACMI basis.
