May 09, 2019 (newstodate): With the first flight on July 5, 2019, Latvia's Riga Airport will see a new airline at the gate: the Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda.
Starting out with two weekly rotations till September 16, Pobeda will then expand operations to daily rotations between Riga Airport and Moscow Vnukovo Airport.
This will become the carrier's first Baltic route, following on Pobeda's entry into the Nordic market with flights between Moscow Vnukovo Airport and Helsinki, in Finland, starting from October 5, 2018.
Hopefully, the route to Riga performs better: Pobeda's flights to Helsinki proved short-lived as the carrier soon pulled out again, with the last flight performed on January 31, 2019.
