May 27, 2019 (newstodate): Korean Air has now put Riga Airport, in Latvia, on its schedule - albeit only for three charter rotations during this summer.
The carrier operated its first flight from Seoul to Riga on May 24, and has another two rotations on May 31 and June 7, 2019 on the program, organized by the Korean tourism agencies Hanjin Travel in partnership with KALTours and with the support of the Latvian Embassy to the Republic of Korea, the Tourism Department of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, Riga Airport, and Tourism Development Agency of Riga, Live Riga.
Already in 2012, Koran Air was mulling plans for freighter operations into Riga Airport from Navoi, in Uzbekistan, with incoming shipments from China.
In Latvia, Air Cargo Transit Services, earlier named CargoRix, was partner in the project that did not, however, materialize - at the time at least..
