May 09, 2019 (newstodate): Plans for launch of a new Swedish ACMI carrier Scanblu have run into repeated delays.
Initially, Scanblu with Christian Tadjeran as CEO was aiming at starting commercial services already in 2018, contracted by the Greek Carrier Ellinair and to be based at Corfu for summer 2018, operating charters and scheduled flights for Ellinair and other European Charters.
These plans were stalled, however, as the carrier did not in time obtain an AOC from the Swedish CAA.
Scanblu then aimed at having the AOC at hand by the turn of October/November 2018, but this deadline was also not met, and later hopes to have the AOC granted by mid-December 2018, also did not materialize.
Scanblu is now under reorganization, and work on a Swedish AOC has been postponed pending a decision on the future localization of the airline that will, however, keep its focus on the ACMI market, says a company insider to newstodate.
