May 13, 2019 (newstodate): The government of Montenegro is preparing for launch of a tender for privatization of the country's two airports at Podgorica and Tivat.
A bill is underway to the parliament, leading to a concession act to be confirmed within the coming few weeks, after which a tender process will be opened to attract interest among potential bidders.
So far, unbinding interest in the planned 30-years concession to manage the airports has been shown by companies in India, South Korea, UAE, Turkey, Germany and Finland, sources claim.
The two airports will comprise a joint package with the future winner to invest at least 85 mio euro into the two airports.
In 2018, passenger volumes through Podgorica Airport was up 15 percent, y-o-y, to 1.2 mio, while passenger volumes through Tivat Airport were also rising 10 percent to 1.3 mio passengers.
