May 29, 2019 (newstodate): Iceland's aviation industry is hard hit by falling volumes of passengers through Keflavik Airport in 2019.
So far into 2019, the airport has seen its passenger volumes down by 14 percent, y-o-y, and Isavia, managing Keflavik Airport, has now announced the redundancy of 19 staff as well as reduced remuneration schemes for another 15 staff.
Several airlines have reduced flight schedules for flights to Iceland in summer 2019, and the demise WOW Air and other European carriers has also brought traffic down.
At the same time, the grounding of the world's Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fleets has also taken a toll on Icelandair that has revised its program for summer 2019.
